Five things nobody told me about living with a mental illness
Since turning 18 I have actively sought and handled my own therapy, this involves seeing a raft of counsellors, psychologists, psychiatrists and wellness professionals. I have had my share of hospital visits, undertaken annually of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), performed a 20 day inpatient Schema application and recently began an Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing program. I also take drugs and have discovered a great deal of function through my job in the arts.
